The Plant

Our production plant is located in Paute, on the east of Azuay province, 46 kilometers away from the city of Cuenca.  This county is characterized by its rich natural diversity, with production of fruits, flowers and plants, the majority of its population lives from agriculture and tourism, however, the income obtained by these activities is not always reliable, which is why many citizens have migrated looking for more job opportunities. Our plant generates 65 jobs for workers in the area, constituting a fixed monthly income for them and their families.

Workforce

The manufacture of the various items produced by MESTIZA requires an orderly, properly qualified process. Human capital is essential in the different areas and departments: In the preparation of the material (that is, in the mixture of the different clays); in the creation of the pieces through lathes and molds; in the enameling of said pieces with different colors and tones; in the packaging of the items, in addition to the oven area, equipment maintenance and the entire administrative area.

The manufacture of MESTIZA products requires clay from nearby mines as raw material. But it mostly requires many hands working together, therefore, the presence of our plant in Paute is a permanent source of work for its people.
